Optometry

Optometry is a health-care profession where the eyes are examined for defects and faults. People belonging to remote areas cannot access these facilities because of their dire conditions. Keeping this in mind, ’Shree Aniruddha Aadesh Pathak’ organises optometry camps in places like Kolhapur, Virar and Pali as per the guidance of Dr Aniruddha Dhairyadhar Joshi. These are set up specially for the students and older people.

This camp includes an eye check-up for the patients where they are examined for cataract and their eyeglass numbers. There are patients who even suffer from ulcers, light sensitivity, eye injuries and wounds.

Optometrists are those volunteers who are trained by the Pathak through detailed sessions on Optometry which are held over a duration of 3.5 months. These volunteers are then certified for the same. The volunteers are categorised into two during the camp. One group is responsible for the eye check-ups while the other group is involved in the distribution of spectacles.

The optometry camps at Pali and Virar are student-specific. Students belonging to the age group of 4 to 15 years visit the camp for the check-up.
